Universal CityWalk

Scope
Signage, Wayfinding, Graphics & Amenities
Summary

As part of a competition to develop an urban streetscape for a new Universal Studios CityWalk, Sussman/Prejza identified elements and an approach that would highlight the Florida locale as well as create a citified language for the street experience. Using a multi-layered, “tropical” approach, Sussman/Prejza designed freestanding structures and graphic screens as the primary character elements for its public spaces to introduce verticality, bright lights, and graphic playfulness. A family of abstract design motifs and sophisticated hardware were combined in various functional compositions. Sussman/Prejza’s designs include skyline towers, hybrid totem fixtures and banners, shade canopies, directional signs, and tenant identity programs.
