The Link Community Shuttle
As part of the strategic plan for increased mobility throughout Los Angeles County, the Second District office of Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas engaged Sussman/Prejza to bring “life” and “inspiration” through design to an improved Community Shuttle Service. The new service “the link” provides six convenient service routes serving the communities of Florence-Firestone, Willowbrook/King Medical Center, Walnut Park, Lennox and Athens with direct connections to the larger Metro Rail Green Line and Blue Line systems at a cost of .25 cents per ride. The newest Link Shuttle connects the Expo Light Rail to the Baldwin Hills Parklands, which includes the Baldwin Hills Scenic Overlook and the Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Center.
Research into the local culture of each community informed the brand concept. Each vehicle, wrapped in a contemporary colored and patterned design, evokes a feeling for the predominantly African-American and Latin communities they serve.
