Kirk Douglas Theatre

Scope
Signage & Donor Recognition
Summary

The Kirk Douglas Theatre has been renovated as a multidisciplinary performance space in the heart of Culver City’s historic downtown district. The 1940s streamline architectural language encloses an intimate 300-seat performance space.  The theatre was successfully rescued from the threat of demolition and rehabilitated by the Center Theater Group, with significant contributions from Kirk and Anne Douglas. The space has been envisioned as a live theatrical performance space for a wide range of new productions. Many original architectural details have been preserved, while others have been reinterpreted in a language appropriate to a new era and use.
