The river that brought people, commerce and prosperity to the city of Cincinnati is the design inspiration for the interiors for the convention center’s renovation and expansion. The main concourse, two city-blocks long, become the canvas on which the river unfolds in wall, ceiling, and floor treatments. The main exterior feature of the building is a 50’ by 300’ dimensional treatment of the city name at a scale intended for long-distance read and which has become a new icon for the city. Composed of suspended planes within a three-dimensional framework, the word “Cincinnati” gradually breaks up into an abstract pattern as one approaches the building.
