Santa Monica, CA
In November 2007 the Big Blue Bus introduced blue: the transit store and customer service center. This new eco-friendly facility, housed in a historic brick building on the Santa Monica Promenade was designed as an environmentally sustainable build-out. Sussman/Prejza was commissioned by the Big Blue Bus to design a multi-faceted campaign leading up to the opening of the few facility, as well as design motion graphics for the digital display located in the store and an interior exhibit that illustrates how the store exemplifies Big Blue Bus’ efforts to provide clean, efficient, sustainable transit service. The exhibit and motion graphics describe not only the steps that have been taken to reduce the environmental impact of a large fleet of buses but also points out the immediate examples in the store of green design in action. It shows how recycled materials, passive and active solar power and architectural design work together to preserve our natural resources.
